The pandemic has increased food insecurity across our communities and many folks are visiting food pantries and soup kitchens for the first time in their lives. The Cecilian Bank has partnered with Feeding America Kentucky’s Heartland to feed families this season by hosting both virtual and in-banking center food drives. The focus will be to ensure families don’t go hungry during the holiday season. The food drive runs November 16 through December 18.
“The demand for food assistance has increased tremendously as many families are faced with choosing between paying bills and putting food on the table,” said Greg Pawley, President and CEO of The Cecilian Bank. “Through this partnership, we hope to brighten the holidays for area families so they don’t have to make those choices.”
There are two ways to help ensure families don’t go hungry this holiday season. The first opportunity to donate is through the virtual food drive. The virtual food drives allow donors to leverage the wholesale buying power of the food bank to purchase food items that represent items found in a food pantry. Those who give can see exactly how their money will help end hunger. In addition to the virtual food drive, The Cecilian Bank will accept food donations at the Oaklawn, Hillcrest, Prospect Pointe, Radcliff, Leitchfield 62, and Brandenburg banking centers.
